Steak Taco Grilled Pizza |
Only last week we featured a post with instructions on how to make The Perfect Grilled Pizza which proved to be a very popular read. Our leftover steak was planned; as we often do when grilling steak we will throw an extra one or two on the grill for the next day to use in sandwiches, tacos or quesadillas.
We also had lots of leftover fresh salsa so we just simmered that down to a sauce like consistency and used that as a bright and delicious pizza sauce. Some cubed pepper jack cheese was all we needed to complete the topping on this gorgeous pizza.
Planning for leftovers is one of the ways we have always managed meals. It's a stress free way to get through the week.
You can use store bought pizza dough if you like but if you want to make your own use the simple recipe here.
To make two twelve inch pizzas you will need:
- Two 8 oz cooked Mexican Spiced Steaks, sliced thin
- 2 cups salsa pizza sauce
- 1 lb Pepper Jack Cheese, cubed
To make the pizza sauce simply simmer the salsa from the Mexican Spiced Steak with Sweet Pepper Salsa recipe until it is the consistency of pizza sauce.
To cook the pizza, spread the sauce over the crust and add the toppings in a single layer. Preheat the grill. If using a gas grill, turn off the burners on one side and place the dressed pizza on the opposite side. If using a charcoal grill build the coal fire on one half of the grill and cook the pizza on the other side. Once the pizza is in place, shut the lid and cook until the cheese completely melts. This can usually take anywhere from 10-15 minutes. Sometimes I will move the pizza over the fire in the last minute if I want a really crispy bottom crust.
